Future Projects

The annual round of planned maintenance operations and Customer injections of cash for agreed minor new works are aimed at keeping the assets on the estate fit for purpose. However, the reality of our 100 year history is that a number of buildings are too old, with inadequate facilities, for the use now required of them.

Nunfield House, Dumfries

The original house was built in 1870 and sits in a substantial site adjoining the local golf course. Garages, stores and range buildings were added in the 1950’s and 60’s but the listing of the main building has severely restricted our ability to develop the facility to meet the needs of the resident unit.
Funding is being sought for its replacement but, given the current financial climate, we do not anticipate an early start on-site. Commercial development partnerships are also being investigated as an alternative means of progress.

Fusilier House, Ayr

This property is that it is built on peat which reacts vigorously with water, expanding when wet and contracting when dry. The result is that, whilst safe, the building moves with the seasons making maintenance, never mind improvements, difficult and expensive.Originally constructed in 1965, Fusilier House was located in a largely commercial district which, over the years, has been redeveloped for residential use. It now sits amid a sea of houses and the search is on both for a new, larger, site and for the funding to make it happen.
