Erskine

Erskine first opened its doors in 1916 to care for the wounded of the First World War.  Over the past 92 years, Erskine has cared for over 75,000 veterans both young and old throughout Scotland and provides unrivalled, modern nursing and dementia care facilities. In the past year the charity has cared for over 1300 veterans with an age range of 24 to 101 years old.

The charity has care homes in Bishopton, Erskine, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In addition, work has started on doubling Erskine’s bed provision in Edinburgh. To deliver care closer to veterans’ families, Erskine also works with care providers that meet Care Commission standards in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and Dumfries.

Erskine Care is the partnership enjoyed by residents, which respects individual choice and decision and encourages maximum independence appropriate to individual levels of ability.  Dignity, privacy and respect are of paramount importance in delivering Erskine Care within a homely environment.

The charity relies heavily on support from individuals and organisations to fund ongoing care and in response to the growing demand, launched its 2010 appeal in 2005 to raise funds to increase the overall number of beds and to expand its dementia care provision throughout Scotland.
