The unit is situated, 5 minutes walk from Hillhead Underground station. Turn left out of the station on Byres Road, left up University Avenue, and immediately as you pass the huge curved glass windows of the striking new Wolfson Building on your right, the sandstone building which sits behind it in University Place, is Glasgow and Strathclyde University Officer Training Corps (GSUOTC) We are on the University of Glasgow Campus, see building B5 on the University maps and website.
Role
The role of GSUOTC is to develop leadership potential of selected university students, raising awareness of the Army’s ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment, whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession, to champion the Army in Society.
About us
The UOTC is split into 3 Training Companies, each providing training and activities for 1st, 2nd and 3rd/4th year students.GSUOTC is open to students of the following Universities: Glasgow University,Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Strathclyde and the University of West Scotland
Training Night
The unit trains on most Wednesday evenings, during University term time, from 06:00 pm to 08:30 pm. It conducts a two week camp in early June, with a variety of Camps, expeditions and other activities during the Summer.
