A new strategy to support armed forces Veterans has been published for consultation.
Strategy for Our Veterans was published by the UK Government – in conjunction with the administrations in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast – and aims to better understand and meet the needs of older Veterans as well as the wider Veteran community over the next ten years.
The draft strategy identifies six areas where support for veterans is most needed over the next decade: community and relationships, employment and skills, health and well-being, finance and debt, housing, and contact with the law.
Graeme Dey MSP – Minister for Veterans in the Scottish Government – wrote to the Veterans Scotland to endorse the strategy and encourage interested parties to share their views on the consultation and ensure Scottish-specific issues are addressed in the UK strategy, which is available here and will be open until 21 February 2019.
