17 employers from the Lowlands have been named as recipients of the Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Award from the Ministry of Defence, acknowledging their outstanding support for the Armed Forces.
This year over 200 organisations of all sizes, from all sectors and from across the UK have been successful. Sectors represented include Healthcare and Education, Recruitment, Construction and Engineering, and Local Authorities.
Minister for Veterans and People, Al Carns DSO OBE MC MP, said:
‘Employers are crucial partners in protecting our security and boosting the economy. By backing veterans, Reservists, military families, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the Cadet movement, these organisations build resilient communities and the innovation Defence needs. I congratulate them and thank them for their outstanding commitment.’
To win a Gold award from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must provide 10 extra days’ paid leave for Reservists, and have supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, Veterans and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, as well as the partners and families of those serving in the Armed Forces.
They must also advocate the many benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces Community by encouraging other organisations within their network to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and to engage with the Employer Recognition Scheme.

City of Glasgow College
City of Glasgow College is Scotland’s largest technical and professional skills college. Great synergy with Defence can be found at the college’s Riverside Campus, a training facility with over 3,000 Maritime and Engineering students. Prior to signing the Armed Forces Covenant, City of Glasgow College already enjoyed a positive relationship with its local Cadet organisations, with its Riverside Campus providing an operating base to Glasgow Sea Cadets and Nautical Faculty staff offering support to Officer Cadets from Glasgow University Royal Naval Unit (URNU).
CTH Auto Services
CTH Auto Services is a Glasgow-based auto repair company specialising in VW/AUDI Group vehicles, however it offers the same service for all other makes and models from servicing and repairs to diagnosis and modification.
Defence Gardens Scheme (CIC)
Defence Gardens Scheme CIC is an extensive network of gardens which provides nature-based therapy for Armed Forces Service Leavers, veterans and their families. The organisation works alongside veterans’ charities, military units, community mental health service providers, and local gardening projects to develop, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of this form of therapy.
DMi Fire & Security Ltd
DMI Fire and Security Ltd is an Airdrie-based fire protection service provider working all across Scotland. DMI’s highly trained engineers provide tailored solutions across domestic and commercial sectors including offices, hospitals, airports, shops and many more.

SWGR is an infrastructure support services provider with over thirty years of expertise and development behind its present success as a market leader.
