It’s been all go for the Cadets and adults at Lothian & Borders Battalion ACF over the last few weeks.
On Saturday 13 April, 21 Cadets passed out after a week-long 3 star cadre. Cadets were represented from all four of the Battalion’s companies with the standard being exceptionally high this year.
Participants were tested throughout the week in a range of practical and written assessments, including a GP Shoot, blank firing exercise, night navigation, Morning PT sessions, room inspections and assessment of their ability to deliver lessons to their peers.
The Battalion had the privilege of visits from the following personnel and special guests who carried out inspections on the day and handed out trophies during the prize-giving ceremony:

Top of Cadre – Cpl Rusniak 28 Platoon Somme Company
Top of Red section – Cpl Kmita 28 Platoon Somme Company
Top of Blue section – Cpl Jackson 15 Platoon Minden Company
As well as the many impressive recognitions received by the Lothian & Borders Cadets, special tribute has also been paid to one of the Battalion’s longest serving CFAVs.
Adult Under Officer (AUO) Louise D’Arcy Greig was promoted to Second Lieutenant last week at Dalkeith Detachment (Midlothian), which she has run for over 20 years.
Major Yasmin Shorter, who is Second Lieutenant D’Arcy Greig’s OC and Company Commander Alma Company, said of the promotion: ‘Second Lieutenant D’Arcy Greig has been with the Army Cadets for 27 years and in that time she has become the volunteer that many go to for advice, comfort and her well known compassionate leadership.
‘We look forward to many more years with 2Lt D’Arcy Greig leading the way.’
